Benefits of Oral Fluid Assays
Sedia’s alternative fluid (non-blood) assays have advantages over conventional blood laboratory tests such as Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA). Traditional lab-based assays can take up to several weeks to return results. Sedia’s alternative fluid assays allow the person being tested to get their results shortly after being tested. Our oral fluid rapid tests have the following advantages:
- Can be performed with limited training or experience; no need for skilled phlebotomist to draw blood.
- Greater patient appeal.
- Improved safety and materials handling.
- Little or no biohazard waste (e.g. blood) is generated.
- Easily transported to and stored in remote regions without cold chain storage requirements.
